The main difference between Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is that SEM can be said to be a big umbrella that normally involves SEO in it but what sets it apart from SEO is its focus on the paid advertising using methods involving Pay Per Click (PPC), Google AdWords, and display ads you see on various sites.
